....2 Cool...Southern Lights Switch On For Atlantis's Last Mission....

EARTH has put on a show for NASA's last ever shuttle mission, giving astronauts a stunning view of the Southern Lights from space.

The images here were taken from the International Space Station at the weekend and show Aurora Australis arcing over the horizon behind the docked Atlantis shuttle.

Douglas Hurley, one of the four astronauts serving on mission STS-135, said the "incredible" image was one of the highlights of the trip.

Hurley and his crewmates were due to begin the journey home today after closing the hatch between Atlantis and the space station for the very last time overnight.

The shuttle is due to land in Florida later this week.
