..........2 Fly........I'm Leaving On A Jet Plane......

.....so........ to drown my sorrows for my 40th Birthday :) - I have treated myself to a long weekend in Sydney......

....In a few hours I will board my Virgin flight (chuckle snort - if only they knew) - to begin what will be (if all goes to plan) a 4 night fiesta of food, cocktails and ..... well.... hopefully some cock 'n' tail ...BA-boom-CHING!.. lol ....

...........As per usual there will be daily if not HOURLY updates depending on (a) what I get up to and (b) how much Al-ki-hol I happen to meet along the way (I get thirsty).....

....Shalom all and I'll speak to you soon!!....

Happy Birthday to me !

D.

PS My list is still on the side and thank you to those who already sent gifts :) - if you haven't visited - go have a look :) - I love presents.....

...........Last Days In Sydney.............

.......Obligatory Shot of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.......

.................So my last full day in Sydney was spent with the ever-so-lovely Host #1 aka Christopher aka Pook aka Twink.... Of course........... every day starts off with breakfast and Pook took me to a fave little cafe of his in the Rocks Section of Sydney called Le Renaissance for a THIS little piece of flaky goodness stuffed and covered with Ham & bechamel sauce :)...

.....mmmmmmmmmm.....

.........Then began the stroll - or, as I like to refer to it - "The Never Ending Bi-Pedal Torture of the Fat and Unfit Man Stuffed with Ham & Bechamel Goodness"............ in other words..... we walked to the Art Gallery of NSW through Circular Quay - past the Opera House - through the Botanical Gardens - eventually...... emphasis EVENTUALLY ending up at the AGNSW......

........Radiance Of The Seas was in as we left the Patisserie.......

.........then past the Opewa Hause...

....Christopher AKA Twink standing there in the humidity posing ever so patiently for me :)....

Link...Me doing the "Oh look what's over there" dork tourist pose....

......Eventually after MUCH complaining by myself at the torture being imposed upon me by the Pookster - and of course much punching him in the shoulder for it - we arrived at the AGNSW.....
Pook took me to the newest bequeathed collection of contemporary art to the gallery by some dude who croaked - his collection is worth 60million AUD..... and includes THIS wonderful fella...

.......I was actually waiting for this charming beast to go "BOO!"....shudder......

........Next was this piece of mirrored goodness that I was actually enjoying until I heard the soundtrack coming out of small speakers in it, the content of which was a couple planning but ultimately not going through with an extra marital affair............... contemporary art..... I don't get it....... thankfully the Pookster was there to take me through it.... OH here he is in "contemplative gay man" pose............ Bless.................

.........We then retired to the Classical section which *I* adored and Pook was bored shiteless in .... however there is nothing compared to standing infront of an actual Monet and Renoir....... Le Sigh.....

....OH !...... and I even got to play creepy man with camera in the park whilst THIS lovely walked by.....

............Our route took us through Hyde Park, where I snapped a couple of pics of the lovely fountain in the centre of the Park...............

....From there we walked to our bus stop through the uber-grand Queen Victoria Building - AMAZING shopping in there.............

.........We finally arrived at our bus stop where I got to snap a pic of Sydney Town Hall.....

...................Our Bus arrived shortly thereafter and I got to play Creepy Camera Guy On Bus ... Good times................... good times...................

..........The morning of my final day - Sunday - Pook and Host #2 - the very sweet and adorable Marc (partner of Pook) - took me on a tour of their favourite cafes.......... the second stop was this adorable little place where we partook of Coffee and Li-ter-ay-chure......

......Even if I was slightly spooked out to find where Bambi finally ended up.......

.................My next bus trip took me away from the lovely Hosts - good men they are - to Gate 31 at the Virgin Departures Terminal where I was able to spot - in their natural environment - the Himbo and Bimbo as they embarked on their Northerly Migration....................

...Notice his beefy goodness and her vapid expression as she adjusts-again-her hair scrunchie.....

...........And one short flight later - I was picked up by Ima in her little broom-broom and off home I went..................

..........It was a wonderful trip and the Hosts were perfectly welcoming and lovely as I secretly suspected they would be.....

..........However, it IS nice to be home - even if I did have to face the mountain of paperwork awaiting me on my desk at work on the Monday.....

Shalom

.......Day 3 PM Day 4 AM....... Drinks and Buzzes........

....... so after a very lazy Day 3 I took my butt off to the Oxford Hotel for drinkies and chats with the Naked Barber in between buzz-cuts and shaves........

.......Got drunk. Trained back to the host house... collapsed in bed ...... woke up VERY hung over and went to brunch with Host # 1...... eggs and toast and many coffees were had..... now listening to Glee and blogging.........

.........here are a few pics of last night..... chat more later all..........

...... Day 2 and 3.....Sydney Odyssey..........

......So..... after another sleep in - I could get used to that........ Day 2 started with a leisurely train trip into the city and off to the Museum I went.....Once off the train I strolled to the Museum through the beautiful Hyde Park past the War Memorial, statue of Australia's "Founder" Captain Cook, and the many, many lovely trees....

.......Unfortunately, almost HALF of the Museum was being renovated and/or preparing for new exhibits, but thankfully the really cool stuff was still on display.....The Museum itself is one of those fantastically monolithic buildings that are like a man-made mountain...

First........ SKELETONS !!!!!!!........

"Captain!! - There be WHALES here!!" (guess the movie quote)

Second........ DINOS!!!!!! (And a mummy)...........

Then......On the way into the Indigenous gallery, there were five portraits of modern day Indigenous Australians aka Aboriginals (although it is considered inappropriate to use that word now - I don't know why but it is)....

Anyway - this portrait below captured my attention - actually, it demanded my attention. The intensity of the eyes literally grabbed me by the throat and held me in place forcing me to look at him and to digest the emotions that this young man was sending to me. I'm not going to write here what I felt. Click on the pic and look at the big version and let him speak to you......

After that I schlepped back to my friends place and had a quick chat before again hoofing it out into Newtown - the very centre of bohemia and eclectism in Sydney - for a wonderful meal / catch up/ drinks / laughs / snorts 'n' giggles with the ever delightful Brenton from Aussielicious.. After regretfully parting, I hopped into a cab, schlepped home, chatted with my lovely hosts for an hour or so and then dragged my tired arse into bed....

...on the UPSIDE ***lots*** of walking...... has to be good for me....

Day 3........

Today is not that exciting. Headed down to the local Westfield mall for a lovely breakfast, manicure, then came back and am relaxing before heading out to the Oxford Hotel where the very nice Richard aka The Naked Barber will be doing buzz cuts and sharing a drink with me.

Tomorrow - the Day of Gorgeousness with The Twink..... details to come..... :)

Shalom my dears.

..... Day 1..... Sydney Odyssey.......

......G'day 'n' Shalom my 2 Centers.......

.....Day 1 saw me sleep in to the un-g-dly hour of 9am - 'twas loverly :)....I then rose, showered, and schlepped my way into the city for a head & scrotum shave by the naked barber (see above post coz I', sure you've been there already).......

.....Oh..........and here are the products of me playing Creepy Fat Train Platform Guy With Camera :)........

.....After that I strolled on down to Chinatown.......

View of the Entry to Chinatown from my table

......where I was almost assaulted by an Asian Matron hawking her restaurants lunch specials....... It was such a good deal I couldn't go past it and for $22 Australian Dollars I got THIS.......

.............and it was particularly yummy and I am almost ashamed to say that I left barely a crumb on my plate - YUMMO !!!.....

.....From there I set off for the Sydney Aquarium...... which I passed on as it's now $35 entry for a VERY small aquarium and I'm too cheap for that - even considering how much of a marinelife-phile I am..... So instead I wandered around Darling Harbour which was BEAUTIFUL and - sad to say - the cleanest part of Sydney CBD (really Sydney council, with the millions of tourists you get you can't spend some money on street cleaners??)..........Here are the photos I took of Darling Harbour.......

......After that I jumped on the monorail - switched to the train to come back to the home suburb of my old friends Christopher & Marc - had a quick but excellently made coffee in a cute little Italian cafe ...

.....then bought some wine and came back to the digs where G'Norman the G'Nome (pronounced Guh'Norman) welcomed me home :) .........

.......Now I am updating the blog for you guys after eating 2 bowls of Christophers home made Pea/Parmesan/Spinach & Pepper Risotto - complimented by a glass of Fifth Leg Semillon Sauvignon Blanc......

......Lovely day - can not wait for tomorrow......

Layla Tov & Goodnight all.....
