Cynical Idealist

I bought this book the other day. Looks well worth a good read, when I'm done with the 4 other books I have open at the moment.

I have always been very curious about Lennon's spiritual life. Seems there was a Big Something went on there, that hardly ever gets talked about in the media. I haven't read any other biographies of Lennon, so not sure that they don't talk about it, but this one jumped out at me, as that's the focus, and that's what I'm interested in.
It has a good endorsement on the back by Gary Lachman, who has written a few great books on the darker side of some of the 60's counterculture. "Turn Off Your Mind" and "Dark Muse". He's the drummer from Blondie. Interesting guy!

I am a bit of a cynical idealist myself sometimes. The Cynics were an interesting bunch. I had to explain to the woman that sold me the book, the difference between cynicism and pessimism. Look 'em up in the dictionary! They are polar opposites. True Cynicism is a very different thing than how the word gets misused today.

Day one without my wedding ring on at work. (I didn't wear it on retreat at the weekend.) I have my grandmother's diamond ring on which I always wear with my wedding ring, so my finger isn't totally naked and I still have something to fiddle with. My finger looks weird, it's shaped itself around that big thick ring, which I never ever took off. ~Except when I was fucking A that weekend in the summer. Ego, the insidious liar and hypocrite.

I had some nice cat-time last night with my girlfriend K's big fluffy black cat, who came and curled up on me. They know. He's a Good Cat. I have missed my Girl fiercely this week.
