Heading to the mountains for some R & R

We're so excited about a little short vacay! We're headed out to the Berkshire Mountains where we'll be staying with some friends. I'm pretty sure we wrote some about this couple in the past.

Our friends are a married couple in their 60s and are two of the loveliest and most nurturing people we know. They always seem so excited to see us and can't stop themselves from filling us with the most incredible love imaginable.

One entire wall of their living room is windows overlooking the most spectacular scene of trees and a mountain in the distance. They told us their fireplace will be blazing and they'll have some blankets out so we can stretch out on their gigantic and plush sofa to take a nap when we get ready.

They also love serving hot chocolate and they always have the absolute best home cooked meals.

A well-deserved vacation as we relax, get some of the most genuine love and hugs, and return renewed and refreshed. See you in a few days!

An Update

Hey, thanks to everyone who contacted us about what we're up to! We haven't been posting on a regular basis lately and it's nice to know many of you wondered if we were okay.

Well, we've been trying to plan some time off from work so we can enjoy the summer. We'll be away this weekend on a little excursion to Cape Cod with some friends of ours. It'll be nice to get a break from work and just relax.

Hope everyone is enjoying the summer. I think in some parts of the world this is winter, which has always been a weird thing to understand! So, whether you're in a summer climate with plenty of hot blazing sun, or in a winter climate with shivering cold weather, hope you're able to take some time to relax!

Talk to everyone next week!

Here We Are!

Here we are! We made it to the beautiful Berkshire Mountains in western Massachusetts. Even though Matty drove the entire way (and kept to the speed limit, I must say), I could tell he was excited because he kept looking over at me and saying, "Are we there yet? Are we there yet?"

I guess this may seem a somewhat unusual location for us to go on Spring Break since a lot of our friends did the typical excursion to the sunny beaches in Florida. Coming out here was Matty's idea and I'll tell you a little about why we both thought this would be the ideal location for us to spend Spring Break.

I guess most of you know this is my first semester in college. We're both taking a full load of classes and this has involved a major change in our daily life and routines. I think we've managed everything quite well but it has certainly involved some major adjustments in our lives.

Sometimes we've had to coordinate getting up at different times and planning out how we get to campus, especially on days when we can't drive in together. Then we have different things we each have to do during the day, such as going to various study groups we're committed to, spending time in the library, trying to see if we can arrange meeting for lunch together, appointments with our faculty advisers or teaching assistant staff, getting to different classes on time, trying to squeeze in time to stay ahead on assignments, responding to text messages and emails from classmates who have ideas about assignments, etc.

Then there's the personal time we make sure we have during the day to just "unplug" from everything academic and take a break and relax. I always like to go online for a while and see what's happening at various sites where I can chat for a while with online friends, or read some favorite blogs and leave comments, or exchange emails with friends.

A major challenge for me has also been dealing with all the pressure I place on myself to be "the perfect student." Academically I've always done well, but I know there's always room for improvement. In some ways I think that's a good thing.

My parents have always valued the importance of education, especially my mom who teaches high school English. She's one of those teachers who really loves what she does and I think I got my love of learning different things from her. She has an incredible curiosity about learning and about life in general and always talks about ways to make learning fun and enjoyable. I don't think I would have made it this far academically without having her attitude about learning.

My dad is an attorney and also emphasized how important education is. However, he's more the "hard nose" type... you know, "nose to the grindstone." Keep chugging ahead. Then there were those years when I was younger and he'd be drinking and no matter how hard I tried, "You can do better than this." Even when I'd make a score of 90/100, it meant I probably didn't study hard enough. Even now I still hear his voice inside my head when I don't make an "A." Since he's been sober, he never, ever says those things now. He's nothing but encouraging and supportive and never once since I've been in college has he ever asked what my specific grades are. When I tell him about how I'm doing, he's nothing but encouraging and proud of me.

However, I sometimes still hear those messages about "room for improvement" and "you can do better than this" when I don't make a perfect score. A lot of times I can ignore those thoughts in my head, but sometimes they're still pretty loud.

I have to give credit to three people who have been incredibly supportive and helpful to me when I start getting hard on myself. Matty and two awesome friends know all about my past relationship with my dad and how I still sometimes hear his criticism when I don't make the "perfect" score. They always call me on how hard I am on myself and remind me that the only thing that matters is that I do the best I can. I'm not always going to make the "perfect" score or write the "perfect" paper. But I can always try my best. The only person I have to please now is myself. That's the key.

As you can imagine, I get pretty drained trying to remind myself of all this. That's why Matty made arrangements for us to visit some friends of ours here in the Berkshires. We're staying with this couple who've been married for about 40 years and are in their 60s. They've been friends of Matty's family for a long time and this is my third visit here. They are two of the most positive, giving, loving, and nurturing people I've ever met.

When we pulled up in their driveway, "Jim" (not his real name) was sitting in a chair in front of this big picture window in the front of their house just waiting for us. "Jim" is a sight to see. He's a big, burly man with a barrel chest and a full wild-looking beard. He's always joking around and is one of the most "alive" people I've even been around.

When he saw the car pulling in the driveway, he jumped up and came running outside laughing and smiling like some kind of wild man from the woods! He had his arms outstretched and grabbed Matty into the biggest bear hug you could imagine, actually lifting him off the ground. And then planted a big sloppy kiss right on his lips!

Then, in typical "Jim" fashion, he set Matty down and said, "Dude, you're as ugly as ever!" and broke out in the most incredible laugh you can imagine. Then he looked at me getting out of the passenger side and cried, "Bradley! Why'd you have to bring this ugly mutt with you? You know you're my favorite!" He actually almost dropped Matty on the ground as he came over to where I was, grabbed me into an even tighter and longer bear hug than Matty got, planted the same big sloppy kiss right on my lips, and said, "Bradley! This week is all about you! Matty's gonna have to find something to entertain himself. I've never liked him anyway!" {laughing and winking at me the whole time} It was at that point that I felt a ton of stress evaporating from my body in record time.

When he put me down, I just lost it. Started crying like a baby. "Jim" didn't miss a beat. He just moved in again, wrapped his big arms around me, pulled me into that barrel chest of his, put one hand on the back of my head and pressed it down gently on his shoulder, and began swaying with me, rocking me like a baby.

He whispered in my ear, "I've been looking forward to both of you coming here, ya know. We're going to take good care of both of you, but you, my sweet Bradley, are like a son to me. Come on, let's go inside, 'Elena' [not her real name] has been talking about you boys all morning."

Well, I'm getting all emo remembering all this. Suffice it to say, we're having the time of our life. Hiking in the woods, helping "Elena" cook some of the best meals I've ever had (funny how just about any food tastes gourmet when it's made with love), taking naps, trading jokes. Tonight they invited a few people over for a dinner party in our honor. They invited "Tony" and "Greg", a gay couple we met last time we were here, and a few other folks.

So, yeah, this is the "perfect" way for us to spend Spring Break this year. I couldn't have planned anything more perfect. Thanks, Matty. Thanks for planning the whole thing. You knew just what I needed and being here with you is making it all worthwhile. I love you.

Outdoor Fun: Wind Surfing & Sex on the Beach

One of the things about being at the beach is how you want to spend every minute outside. I mean, that's the main reason people go to the beach, right? The ocean, the waves, the sun, the half naked hot guys!

Over years of practice, Matt and his brother have gotten pretty good at wind surfing. I had never tried it before, and I gotta say it looks easier than it actually is. I mean, you're out there in the ocean with waves crashing all around you (okay, that may be a little dramatic -- they weren't actually "crashing," more like what Matt calls really nice "swells," which he always grins at me looking at my crotch when he says that word "swell.")

Anyway, you're out there on this surf board with a pole sticking right up (Matt's grinning again!) and there's this sail attached to it and you're trying to balance yourself on the board, with the water "swelling" all around you, holding on to this bar that you use to navigate things. If you've never done it before, there's a lot to be thinking about, trying to get your body to stay balanced while leaning this way, then that way, making sure your grip on the bar is secure and then trying to let up on the bar on one end while making the bar move another way on the other end, bending your knees sometimes, straightening them other times... all while you're trying to look like you know what the hell you're doing.

After a while I got the hang of it and ended up having a terrific time. It was sorta like the feeling I use to get when I would play soccer in high school. There's a certain rhythm to it that sometimes feels like you're doing this really elegant dance. I got this thrilling sensation when everything was going right. There's the movement of the water, the movement of the wind, the movement of your hands and the overall movement of your body... all working together. What a high!

The other outdoor activity that was a first for both of us was having sex on the beach. Matt has talked about wanting us to do that, so it wasn't a total surprise when he brought it up after we got there for the weekend.

So, the plan was that we would wake up around 2 AM on Saturday night (or actually Sunday morning), grab this huge beach blanket thing they have, and this beach straw basket where we had packed the lube, two beach towels and some hand cloths, and head for the beach. There were some clouds out so the moonlight was not blaring down on us and we decided to stay close to where the dunes and sea oats were instead of going all the way to the middle of the sand.

At that time of night there didn't seem to be anyone else around, so we spread the blanket down and walked to the water for a little while -- just holding hands and testing the water. We decided to just take a little dip in the water only venturing out about 10 or 15 feet -- enough so we could sit down and get our bodies covered with the salt water. While we were kissing I had this incredible feeling that we were the only two people on the planet at that moment. There was this light breeze and after a few minutes, the waves were not the only thing "swelling." So we turned around and walked back to the blanket.

Matt asked me to just lie down on my back while he slipped my Speedos down (yes, I'm addicted to those things now!). Then he took his off. Well, what do you expect then? Talk about things "swelling!" I don't think either of us has gotten that hard, that fast. I think the rush was probably because there we were, totally naked on the beach, under the stars and moon, hearing the slight breaking of the waves, just totally enjoying each other's body.

I have to admit that it was something of a head rush to take a risk like this -- I mean, being totally naked on the beach and having your lover on top of you, knowing that shortly we were going to be having full-on sex.

Well, Matt has this thing where he loves to taste my body -- I mean all over. And tonight we had already gotten all this ocean salt water all over us. I swear to God he knows how to use that tongue of his (it ought to be registered as an X-rated sex toy or something! But then again he says my body should be the registered sex-toy!). So, I'm all his at this point. He's tasting the saltiness and saying how similar it is to how my cum tastes. I mean, I'm moaning like every cell in my body is about to cum at any moment. I made him stop for just a second and took his face in my hands and just smiled. He just grinned back and that's when he said, "What's more exciting than my tongue on the loose?" Well, that almost did it. I came so close to climaxing at that point, but I wanted it to last a little longer.

Wouldn't you know that at that point, out of the corner of my eye, I noticed some movement across the beach. I just tilted my head and saw these two dark figures walking down the beach. Because of the cloud cover keeping the moonlight shaded, I couldn't tell whether it was a man and a woman or two women or two men, but a couple was definitely passing by. I pulled Matt down over me so he was covering me. Then I realized his back and ass were fully exposed on top of me. I whispered that there was a couple walking by, and he didn't seem to mind in the least.

We just stayed completely still and then noticed that they had stopped walking. They were maybe a hundred yards away and it looked like they were facing us. I guess they were trying to figure out what it was they were seeing. I mean, maybe they thought they had spotted a small beached porpoise or something and were going to investigate (!). Well, Matt figured if they wanted to watch, why not give them a show? For some reason I still don't understand, I didn't put up any resistance. I mean, we had gone this far, and I was -- to tell the truth -- horny as hell, so why spoil things for us?

Matt turned me over on my tummy, reached in the basket, took out the lube, got my ass ready, and slowly -- ever so slowly -- entered me, just swaying ever so slightly. I think it's the slowest we've ever done it. But, oh my god, it was so perfect. I was almost going away in my mind to that neverland where you go when you sorta loose consciousness during sex, and I looked over and noticed the couple was slowly walking away. I absolutely know they were aware of what they were seeing, and either they were embarrassed or they just wanted to respect our privacy, but they did stop once or twice and look back. At one point I saw them embracing and kiss each other, and then they were gone. Who knows, maybe they found themselves a private spot down the beach and decided to have a little midnight fun themselves?

So, mark up two more "firsts" for me: wind sailing and sex on the beach (not at the same time!). So, yeah, Outdoor Fun at the Beach... I can't wait for our next trek to the Cape. I think it's become one of my favorite summer destinations yet!

Cape Cod Adventures

WOW, what a whirlwind weekend! Worth every second, though!!

So, Matt gave some of the headlines yesterday, and I'll fill in some of the details, at least from my perspective.

I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again. Matt has one of the best families you could hope for. This was the first time I spent such an extended time with them, and all I can say is that they are "the real deal."

Once we got there and settled in, I put on my "Pay Attention Eyes," to see if the impressions I had of his parents would hold up over this extended time. I mean, you can get a pretty good impression of somebody when you go over to their house for dinner or even spend an afternoon with them. But this was going to be a whole weekend.

I was really interested in seeing how Matt's parents were together, I mean from first thing in the morning until they went to bed -- for a whole 2 1/2 days.  And why, you might ask? Well, since Matt and I have been together, they have been my "secret" role models for how a marriage can work. These people are so much fun to be around and they actually seem to not only love each other, but like each other -- a lot. At times they can act like 2 teenagers in love, but not that "gooey, sentimental, puppy love" that you see sometimes with certain teenagers (ahemmmmm, Matt and I put ourselves in the "young adult" category!).

One thing I really liked about their relationship is they seem to totally enjoy each other. You get the impression his mom thinks his dad is the most interesting person she knows -- and vice versa. You would think that after over two decades of married life they would have learned everything there was to know about each other -- and, for the most part that's probably true. I guess what I'm trying to say is that they are always curious about each other. To watch them together, you get the feeling they are just waiting to learn something new about the other one. When they talk to each other in the evening they never seem to run out of things to say. I think Matt and I have something like that going on and I hope we never loose it.

Matt thinks I'm funny, but I sometimes write down stuff they say. Like little bits of wisdom I don't want to forget and think about later. Here's my favorite from this past weekend. We were eating lunch on Sunday and somehow it came up that Matt and I have known each other for over a year now. I have this little secret thing I do sometimes with his parents where I drop something in the conversation that might get them to say something about how they have such a cool relationship. I said something like, "So, how long did it take you guys to get to know each other so well?" Simple question, right? Well, what his dad said next is what I tried to remember to write down later: "You don't get to know somebody better by knowing them longer." Whoa! I think I zoned out of the conversation for a few minutes so I could keep saying that answer in my head so I wouldn't forget it.

Matt's younger brother was there with us too. He's two years younger than Matt (he's 17 now) and he and I have become really good friends. I think I've said somewhere else in the blog that he told Matt once that if we ever broke up, Matt would have to move out and I would move in and be his brother! Totally sweet. I don't have a brother, so I told him we could go ahead and be brothers now. All he said was, "I think we already are. And not just brothers-in-law, but brothers. Period."

I think we did sorta freak him out once over the weekend. He and his parents were out on the beach and Matt and I had stayed back to relax and take a short nap. Well, Matt and I got a little frisky, as is known to happen almost every time when we find ourselves naked and in bed together! Well, Matt was a little more frisky than usual and we started wrestling with each other -- pinning each other down -- grabbing body parts -- I mean  really getting into it. Matt was doing a pretty good job of being the dominant one. I mean, when did his arms get so strong and his body so powerful? I hadn't noticed how that happened before. I guess with all his construction work, hammering, hauling things around, stuff like that, his shoulders have gotten gradually broader and stronger.

Well, after we managed to fall off the bed, he carried me into the living room {sighing just remembering it!} and we continued messing around. Well, I guess you know what happened next, right? Matt's brother came back to the house to get a snack and walked in on us. He just took one look, said, "Whoa," and quickly turned around and walked out. I mean, SHIT! So, I get all freaked out myself and all Matt's doing is laughing. He just grabbed my hand, helped me up and led me back in the bedroom. After shutting the door and locking it, he doesn't miss a beat but continued where we left off. Somehow my mind shut completely down on his brother walking in on us and was turned back on to what we were doing.

Matt told me later it was no big deal (!). He said his brother had seen plenty of porn and it really was no big deal. I mean, his brother was there for probably like all of two seconds and didn't see that much. Matt said his brother was probably gonna be more embarrassed than we were. Needless to say, me and his brother were sorta shy around each other for a while later that day, but Matt was his usual self, which helped me try and return to normal. Nothing was ever said about him seeing us, and life just went on as usual.

So, I know people have commented on how we have these "cliffhangers" sometimes. I guess this is gonna be another one of them. I'm not planning it that way deliberately, but I do have to get ready for work. I'll give you a hint though. Tomorrow I'll write a little about how we actually managed to have sex on the beach -- at night -- under the stars -- with the waves crashing -- in front of God and everything!! And somehow I did manage to remember a comment Matt made while it was going on (which I wrote down later -- not as a bit of wisdom, but just something totally cute and hot Matt said while it was happening -- something I wanted to remember):  "What's more exciting than my tongue on the loose?"

2 Beach Bums!

Well, there's no doubt about it. Being a beach bum on beautiful Cap Cod could become a way of life for us with if we were both independently wealthy (or had a Sugar Daddy who would support us!! LOL). But since we're not wealthy and nobody has offered to be our Sugar Daddy, we'll just take many return visits when we can.

Living in Massachusetts all our lives, we forget we're not the center of the universe, so here's a pic of the Cape from a satellite. It's the eastern part of the State and it's the part that looks likes an arm sticking out into the Atlantic Ocean flexing it's muscles:

My parents jointly own a house there with another family, and they work out a schedule early in the year where they share the time in two week slots ... two weeks for each family. The rest of the time they rent it out to help pay the mortgage.

So, my folks had already been there the week before we arrived and then Brad and I just came down for the weekend, along with my younger brother.

We got there on Friday night and the weather was rainy, so my parents took us all out for this really nice dinner. Then Mother Nature cooperated and we had a picture-perfect Saturday and Sunday. We just got back this morning and Brad has to work today, and I'm going in shortly, so this will just be a short post. We'll write more over this week.

So, for the highlights:

We got to do some windsurfing on Saturday. This was Brad's first time and he had a ball! He brought his Speedos and wore them the whole time. I think I got him addicted now!! YAY! He looks so hot in them. Oh, in case you've never been windsurfing, here's a pic of some guy doing his thing:

We weren't able to locate the "clothing optional" beach, so we'll save that for another day.

We did have an incredibly fun time and now I have some really interesting tan lines to enjoy on Brad! But, more about that later!

Sorry this is so short, but, hey, we have to make some more money to go back. We promise more details later.....

Weekend at the Beach!

Yep! We're off to the beach for the weekend! YAY!

Matt's parents have a house on Cape Cod they share with another family (the other family won't be there). The weather today is pretty crappy, but everything is suppose to clear up for Saturday and Sunday.

We might even get to do some wind surfing, which I've never done before. And, or course, I've remembered to pack my Speedos. Matty's checked my bags twice already to make sure they're there!

Oh, and Matty heard there is suppose to be a nude beach (or "clothing optional") somewhere on the Cape. So, of course, he's been searching the web trying to find out where it is. I've already told him there ain't no way I'm gonna take my clothes off at the beach -- in public! No way! I honestly doubt he will either, but, we'll see.

Hope everybody has a good weekend! See you back on Monday!

Coming Out & Coming In: 2 Lessons from Maine

Matt and I were talking about our vacation to Maine. It's hard to believe we've actually been together a whole year now. So much has happened. I've met the boy of my dreams. Fallen in love. Lost my virginity. Gone to my school Prom with my boyfriend. Graduated High School. Just returned from a one-week vacation as a graduation present from Matt's aunt and uncle. Unbelievable. Friggin' unbelievable! Except it's all true!

It's was obvious to everyone at the Bed and Breakfast that we were a couple. I mean, duh! The owners of course knew because they're friends of Matt's aunt and uncle. Each of the other three couples probably figured it out in like 30 seconds. No way they would figure we were brothers (how many brothers our age hold hands, call each other things like "babe" or "sweetie," or kiss?) or even think we were best friends.

I've been out as gay since I was 15. I'm 18 now. It still amazes me how in some ways it is easy to come out to people, and how it terrifies me in other situations. Going to the B & B made me nervous. I mean, we were going to be spending a week with three other (unknown) couples and there are never any guarantees about what people are going to think (which I don't worry about all that much) but you never, ever know how they are going to treat you. That I worry about. I mean, this vacation was a graduation present for me and it was the first vacation Matt and I have ever taken. I wanted it to be perfect for both of us.

It ended up being about as perfect a vacation as I could have hoped for. One couple was a little stand-offish at first, and they didn't interact a whole lot with us like the other two couples did. They didn't say or do anything that was rude or offensive, so we have that to be thankful for. They were sorta noticing us, but not really including us in things, which is their right. I mean, no big deal.

The other two couples, and the owners, were totally accepting and inclusive of us. One of the women nudged her hubby one evening while everybody was in the Common Room in front of the fireplace after dinner. Me and Matt were sorta cuddling and enjoying the conversation and all the questions they had about how we met, going to the prom together, our families, etc. The wife said to her hubby something like, "Now, watch those two sweet boys, Harold, and learn something about romance." Harold turned three shades of red but he, and everybody, just got into the moment. We were all having a blast. How totally cool was that?

They all called us "Sleepy Heads" when we came down a little late for breakfast each morning, and seemed to enjoy making really cute and playful comments about how we were enjoying our bedroom! Man, it was almost unreal. Totally, totally wonderful!

I got to thinking about how "Coming Out" also included the opportunity to "Come In" as a whole person, if that makes any sense. I mean, coming out is something that comes from inside you and is directed to others. By "coming in" I mean that you "come into" a more complete person when you can just be your whole self with others.

I noticed that I learned more about myself when Matt and I were in a safe place to just be ourselves. I mean, we didn't have to censor anything we said or did in front of them. I felt like something really amazing and important was happening "in" me as a result of being "out" and completely myself there. I felt, I don't know, more mature, more whole as a person, more confident, more hopeful. I kept telling Matt that I was beginning to understand what "joy" is all about. I also began to feel "fully alive." I know this may sound like a lot of clichés, but, believe me, inside it was almost overwhelming. I guess that's what I mean when I say that "coming out" is an opportunity to "come in"..... to come into you're true self.... to be a part of life without hiding, so be seen for who you really are.

Writing about all this is making me so happy. I feel a lot more hopeful about the future -- our future. I feel like I'm "coming into" more of who I am as a whole person! What more could I ask for?

Leaving Maine

Just a quick note that we're leaving the B & B in Maine and headed back to my aunt and uncle's home for an overnight, then back to Boston!

We had a fantabulous time! Hope to post more toward the end of the week.

Here's a few pics for your viewing pleasure:

Postcard from Maine

Okay, just so we're clear here... This is Brad starting off this postcard from Maine. Matt had promised we wouldn't be checking our Blog and definitely not posting anything until we got back. He wanted us to just concentrate on our little vacation and take a break from the "real world." But, well, Matt being Matt, he's getting a little antsy about people deserting us while we're away for this week. He begged me, "Let's just log on for 3 minutes and see if our 'Followers' have dwindled from almost 100 to less than 5." My response? "Matty, will you just relax and come back to where we are? Do you really believe people will just go elsewhere looking for two cute young guys to read about? (LOL)" Well, he gave me one of his "love punches" and said, "Just 3 minutes. That's all. Then I can relax again." When I said, "Okay" (I mean he's so irrestible when he begs with that little-boy look), he looked around for the laptop and couldn't find it. He looked over at me and I had this huge grin on my face. He just said, "Okay, cutie, now where'd you hide it?" After another "love punch" I gave in and told him where I had hid it. All I said was, "I'm timing you. Three minutes! If you go over that then I get to decide the punishment." He thought a second and grinned and said, "Okay."

So, without further ado, heeeeeeeer's Matt:

Okay, very funny, Brad!! Okay, so I'm checking and see we still have "Followers." I gotta make this quick, I've only got 2 minutes and 15 seconds left!

WE ARE HAVING A BLAST! The weather is not the best. Cloudy, occasional rain, temperature in the 40s (F), but this Bed and Breakfast where my aunt and uncle sent us is fabulous! There are four bedrooms and we have a view of the ocean from our window. Each evening the owners have two pieces of chocolate on our pillows! How cool is that!

We've been kayaking, bicycling, shopping (Brad got some really cute outfits, including some of those tight jeans that show off his ass really well {panting}, and I've been buying my family all kinds of gifts like locally-made pottery, etc.). The Bed and Breakfast has this HUGE fireplace in the Common Room and since the temp is in the 40s, they've had a very romantic fire going at night.

And guess what? The people here are so, so nice. The other three couples are middle-age (I'm not gonna say a number 'cause I might get in trouble with some of you!) and straight and NONE, I repeat NONE of them have any problem with us being a gay couple!!!! I feel like we're in heaven. I mean, they think we are totally adorable with all our "young love," holding hands, cuddling, "sweetie" this, "sweetie" that! But I think it's Brad they think who's totally adorable!" (I had to say that 'cause he just told me I'm over my three minutes!) We were sitting in front of the fireplace last night and the wife of one of the couples actually said to her hubby, "Watch them, Harold, and learn a thing or two about romance." She said it in that really lovely way, like she was acknowledging our love and actually enjoying it! Totally, totally cool!

Well, I'm gonna run now. Before I go, everybody raise their right hand and swear to whatever you hold sacred that you will not desert us! I promise we have a lot of interesting stuff to share with you. You may even be surprised with some of it.

Well, Brad's been making this game-show "Buzzzzzzzzzz" for the past minute so I'm gonna sign off. Between you and me, I deliberately ran over the three minutes just to see what kind of surprise or rather "punishment" he has in store for me! Hmmmmmmmmmm. See ya all when we get back! Love you all!

Matty's a Daddy! Postcard on the Road to Maine

I know Matt said we would be taking a short break from the blog as we trekked to Maine. I just had to share this short and cute story with all of you.

So, on the interstate to Maine, we decided to stop for lunch at one of those fastfood joints you see at a rest area -- kind of a mini-mall where you can get gas, eat, walk your pet, pee, buy souviners, etc.

We got our lunch and found a booth and there's this family sitting directly across from us. Looked like a mom, a dad and their son who was maybe all of 5 or 6 years old. When we sat down, the little boy (who looked like he was a bundle of energy) looked over and stuck his tongue out at us! We both just smiled back at him and started eating.

Well, the boy wasn't finished with us! He made this really funny face, you know, kinda sticking his tongue out, making bug-eyes and puckering his lips at us. Then he took a bite of food, started chewing it and then opened his mouth so we could see inside!! Well, we both just cracked up laughing and his parents looked horrified!!

The parents scolded him (nothing dramatic...I think they just wanted him to chill and didn't want everybody in the restaurant looking their way), but did Matt cooperate with their efforts to calm him down? Okay, let's all say it in unison: "NO!"

Matt just smiled and made a really funny face back at him. I thought I was going to have to tell Matt to chill or the parents would have two kids to control! Well, the little boy just cracked up and an instant friendship was made!

So, both of them started making funning faces to see who could outdo the other. The parents watched the whole thing and I think they were relieved that their son was not making loud noises because Matt was putting his index finger to his lips in that universal gesture of saying, "Shhhhhhhhh," and the boy was minding him!

The parents looked so relieved and actually struck up a conversation with us. They were traveling from Connecticut and we told them we were from Massachusetts on our way to visit family in Maine. The mom asked if we were brothers and Matt said, "No. We're boyfriends. My aunt and uncle invited us as a graduation present for Brad." They didn't even bat an eye, but smiled and said that was really thoughtful of them.

We talked a little more and then got up to leave. Well, the little boy got upset we were leaving and started crying. So, after empyting our food tray, Matt went over to the souviner counter and bought a pair of children's sunglasses and took it over to him. You should have seen the boy's face light up. Matt told him they were special sunglasses that helped little boys mind their parents. The boy just looked at Matt and had that look that said, Are you serious? Then he broke out in this huge smile and his parents had to remind him to say thank you. As we were leaving, the boy and Matt were waving goodbye to each other.

When we got back to the car, I just looked at Matt and said, "You know, you are really sweet. I didn't know you were that good with kids." He just smiled back and said, "Well, guess I'm just a big kid myself."

When we were back on the road, I told him I was going to start calling him "Matty the Daddy." He just grinned and said, "Well, you never know. Maybe we'll have kids some day." WHOA! I didn't know what to say. We had never talked about this kind of stuff before. But, Matt, being Matt, just went on talking about his aunt and uncle and jabbering about whatever. As usual, Matt was being a "Chatty Cathy" and I was enjoying hearing everything he was talking about. We were about an hour away from his aunt and uncle's home, so it was relaxing to be talking about different things.

But, I couldn't stop thinking about his comment about having kids. He was so good with that little boy, like he knew exactly how to relate. Well, needless to say this topic deserves more thought..... but for now, I just want to relax and enjoy our little vacation. And "Matty the Daddy" just asked me to put in another CD of some relaxing music. This is going to turn out to be a really cool vacation. I can already feel it!

A Short Break

Brad and I will be taking a short break from the blog. My aunt and uncle have invited Brad and I to visit them in Portland, Maine for a few days. I have always been close to both of them and they are like second parents to me.

I've been talking almost non-stop (typical for me I guess!) about Brad and they've never met him. So, as a graduation gift to him they've invited us for a visit and then they're sending us to this little island resort just north of Portland for 3 days!

A graduation gift to Brad! And they've never met him! All they know about him is what I and my mom and told them. This is so sweet and special to me I started crying when they invited us. I just have to say here that I love my family! My aunt said it's a graduation gift to Brad and a "We Love You" gift to me! Can you believe that?

So, we're leaving tomorrow morning and will be back next week. Please don't abandon us! We're taking our laptop but will probably not post anything until next week.

Bon voyage to us!
